Drift Inn in Mechanicsville

Drift Inn was packed last Saturday evening when the wife and I are arrived by boat for dinner. The steam crabs were excellent and probably the best we had in a long time. The service was good taking into account how busy they were.

Made a reservation for this place an entire week before our date. A party of 17 ask in advance can they handle a party of that many was told yes. I arrived at 5:03 had to ask someone there about the party of 17 where they ready to be told not really we took a few pictures out by the water came back inside to we literally had to ask again about our table someone finally point us in the direction to a table we set there for over 45minutes was never ask even a drink order. No one never came to take our order. Our entire party got up and walk out they didn't say one word to us nothing. They did not want to serve us and I know the reason see we did not look like they did. I don't care what color you are I will never recommend Racism EVERY. The date we was trying to enjoy dinner here was April 20 our resveration was for 5pm.please don't waste your money or time.

Delicious! Some of our party had steamed crabs and said they were excellent. I had the stuffed shrimp and they were delicious. It was a great meal. The restaurant is right on the water. Great meal. We'll be taking guests there when they want a taste of Maryland.

It would be extremely helpful if you changed the status, on google, as closed. We are new to the area and Google shows that you are open tonight until 10pm. We drove all the way out only to find “closed signs.” What a total disappointment! Giving one star so that I’m able to post this review!

Because of Covid -19 want to get good crab, even if it was take out. When we got there, we found spacing of the tables and it was not overcrowded. We sat down, and really enjoyed it.

The food and service are outstanding. Jerry always greets you with a smile. The view is awesome

TERRIBLE. I have never been more disappointed in my life. Waited an hour for our food (granted there were 13 of us). The food came out at random times, some stuff came out 10 minutes apart. Our waitress was not very friendly, and honestly seemed a bit rude. They charge you per can for sodas. The steamed shrimp I ordered fell apart as soon as I touched it, and tasted even worse. The crab legs were just ok. The coleslaw was nothing but mush & water. I will NEVER be going there again. Paid way too much & left hungry.

Well it seemed peculiar that we got our drinks and food slower than everyone else. I wonder why. I hate to assume but there was only one real distinction between us and the other guest...... hmmmm crabs were decent but like warm. French fries horrible (cold and soggy). Asked for a Maitai, got a drink, wasn’t a Maitai. Ohh well🤷🏽‍♀️

The best crab house in Southern Maryland

This place is the one I always prefer. I go to a lot of restaurants but to this restaurant I keep coming back again and again. The stuff is very attentive and the food they place on your table is so fresh and tasty. I never miss an opportunity to have a decent dinner in this restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

The food was terrible and it came out at different times when there was only four of us. The waitress was not friendly and one sever was wiping her nose and serving food. Would not recommend

Food was really good. Atmosphere is awesome, place was clean. We ordered a dozen crabs for sit down and a dozen to go. A lb and a half of steamed shrimp and asked for them to be spiced heavy. We had to explain the lb and a half request which she never understood and brought us a half dozen making us re order the other lb. Then they brought them out with barely any old Bay ignoring our request. My wife asked for lime in her pitcher of tea saying she didn't like lemon, we got lemon. When we reminded her she didn't offer a new pitcher just brought us 1 lime wedge. I had finished my first beer and didn't see her to order another for half way through the meal. The crabs and shrimp were cooked perfectly so we did actually enjoy our meal just thought the service could have been better.

There seafood is good but the kids meals were kinda crapie. The cocktails for adults were horrible

Great hidden gem local crab place. They have a nice area outside where you can sit right on the bay. Also a dock with views of an osprey nest.

Went for male crabs, was $48 a dozen..crabs were mixed males, very meaty and seasoned perfectly. Great place right on the water. I would definitely recommend this place..nice people.

Best crab cake & soft shell in Southern Maryland!

Absolutely a place to eat Soft or Hard shell crab 🦀. The environment is laid back and the location is next to the Patuxent River near Mechanicsville Maryland about an hour and a half south from DC. If you're looking to eat Maryland crab this place rocks. If you can't find parking in the front of the restaurant they always have plenty of parking space in the back of the restaurant.

Big crabs, reasonably priced. Great view. Wish they could be open all year.

Great local Place! Crabs were amazing, full and sweet. The seafood platter was excellent as well. My family and I loved this place and we will definitely be back again and again.

Nice local crab house right on the Patuxent River...the crabs were larger and really good. Reasonably priced...and the fried oysters are to die for! Found me a nice crab spot...simple and clean with a down home feel.

Felt like we were treated like second class citizens . Me and my fiance where served cold crabs and had to wait a plenty lengthy time just to get them. We noticed a couple came in after us got their drinks that crabs and there aren't trees within 15 minutes of arrival. Our waitress, we show up about every 30 minutes with the for a check-in. We wanted to enjoy drinks and other food from the menu but the lengthy wait deterred us. The crabs were tasty but they were cold and a service just sucked.
